Take a honeymoon in Mauritius

By bill On July 31, 2010 Comments Off

If you’re looking for the ideal location to spend your honeymoon, I would strongly recommend Mauritius. Having just arrived back home, I can honestly say that it was a brilliant choice , and one that we certainly wouldn’t have made without it being recommended to us by friends .

Picking a location is hard , and I decided to leave it to my wife, as my only requirement was that we find somewhere sunny . But after hearing that she wanted to go to Mauritius, I must admit that I was slightly concerned –  purely for the fact that I knew very little about Mauritius, and had assumed that we would be heading somewhere in the Caribbean.

After much deliberation (on my part) we made the decision to book our honeymoon in Mauritius. We discovered an internet travel agent and were lucky to find an all inclusive Mauritius holiday for a very reasonable price. The only snag was that we weren’t sure how good the hotel was going to be (because it was a new build ) but once we had arrived any anxieties we had quickly dissolved – the hotel was immense !

Mauritius holidays are becoming extremely popular; this is probably to do with the price as much as anything – it is a lot less expensive than it used to be . But the cost – in terms of what you get for your money – is relatively inexpensive . The climate is tropical , the wildlife is spectacular , the people are welcoming , and the service and accommodation are second to none .

During the honeymoon I was happy to chill out by the beach for the entire honeymoon, but my wife being my wife decided that she must see the sights , and experience some of the culture – which, at first, I thought was code words for shopping and shoes ! So she dragged me along with her on the proviso that I could eat as much ice cream as my body could physically take . Expecting my credit card to be kidnapped and abused , I made sure that we stopped and looked at anything which looked as if it might have a bit of cultural or historic significance … I probably went too far when I tried ( and failed) to pass off the public toilets as a magnificent piece of history ! Anyway, I can honestly say that I’m glad my wife did drag me along because Mauritius is a beautiful country with a diverse culture… and they speak English! – However the papers and news are all in French! Mauritius has an array of astonishing mountains and forests , remarkable beaches and coral reefs , and is home to one of the most famous surfing spots – Tamann Bay. It was also home to the now famous but unfortunately extinct dodo bird . The cuisine is a mixture of all the various cultures, so there’s something for everyone .

Why choose a Safari holiday?

By bill On July 31, 2010 Comments Off

A safari vacation is a once in a lifetime experience, and one that you won’t forget . If you have not been before then I firmly recommend that you find a travel agent and book one now… well, perhaps after you have read this article! With plenty of places and tours to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. Making the right decision is not as easy as you’d think – that is why it is important to do your research first .

Kenya safari tours are immensely popular; this is because of the dramatic landscape, which includes volcanoes, deserts, rainforests and snow-capped mountains – as well as Mt. Kilimangiro, the clear blue seas of the Indian Ocean, and flamingo covered lakes , Kenya has a wealth of animals to see, such as; buffalo, giraffes, leopards, lions, cheetahs, and elephants  .

A Botswana safari is also a very popular pick . Botswana is a huge country with an extremely tiny population -  the vast majority of its land is used for the preservation of its wildlife , most, of which, can be seen in the north, including the ‘big five’ and the lesser spotted Sitatunga Antelope . The huge amount of diverse wildlife makes Botswana perfect for a safari trip – there’s over five hundred species of birds, and it is home to the largest number of endangered wild dogs.

Tanzania safari holidays are incredible . Tanzania resides in the heart of East Africa, just south of the equator. The landscape is breathtaking and there’s many National Parks and Game Reserves to see . The northern parks of the Serengeti attract a large amount of tourists , and has a reputation for being among the best in the whole continent.

Trout Fishing Bait

By bill On July 31, 2010 Comments Off

One in every of America’s favourite past times is fishing.  And top-of-the-line kinds of fish to focus on and catch is trout.  Trout fish can usually be found in cool, clear streams and lakes throughout North America.  They may also be discovered naturally in northern Asia and Europe.  Most trout can be solely present in contemporary water, but many, like the steelhead spend their adult life within the ocean and then they return to the streams where they have been hatched to spawn.  This is called anadromous reproduction and can also be seen in salmon.  Brook trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, bull trout, and Arctic char also have populations that run to salt water as well.

There are lots of totally different species of trout, and even more populations which can be remoted from one another and morphologically different.  Nonetheless, many of these distinct populations show no important genetic differences besides coloration and pattern.  The identical species of trout that stay in different environments can have dramatically totally different colors and patterns and could also be named differently.  The cutthroat trout, for example. has 14 acknowledged subspecies (relying on your sources), such because the Lahontan cutthroat trout, the Bonneville cutthroat trout, Colorado River cutthroat trout, Yellowstone cutthroat trout to name a few.  On the other hand, typically the distinction in colors and patterns ends in the identical species being called by completely completely different names.  The brook trout and the aurora trout all have physical traits and colorations that distinguish them to be completely different however, genetic analysis exhibits that they’re one species, Salvelinus fontinalis.

Sometimes, the colours and patterns of trout fish are used as camouflage based on the environment by which they live.  But, the colours and patterns will change as the fish strikes to different habitats.  Trout that is in, or has just recently returned from the ocean, can look very silvery while the same “genetic” fish living in a small stream or lake could have pronounced greenish speckles with much more coloration.

Trout have fins which are utterly without spines, and all of them have a small adipose (fatty) fin alongside the back, close to their tail.  They are really somewhat bony fish, but the flesh is generally thought of good eat and to the taste.  Because of their reputation inside the fishing community, trout are sometimes raised on fish farms also called hatcheries and are then relocated into heavily fished waters.  Replenishing the water’s supply of trout is part of an effort to reduce the effects of over fishing.  Many different fishing strategies can be found for trout fishing including spin fishing and fly fishing.  Although fly fishing has now been extended to target and catch different fish species, it was a particular method developed primarily for catching trout.  A part of the enjoyable of trout fishing and the thing that has made it so popular is that trout will present the fisherman with a very good battle when caught with a hook and line.

Depending on the body of water that you’re fishing in one can find totally different trout.  The bait that’s used to catch trout fish will be completely different depending on the species of trout and the scale of the trout.  Trout generally feed on mushy bodied aquatic invertebrates, such as Diptera, mayfly, caddis fly, and stonefly which might make utilizing a worm or nghtcrawler a successful bait.  Bigger specimens of trout frequently feed on other smaller fish like minnows.  Utilizing a spinner could be extra acceptable in this scenario since spinners are made to resemble the motion of small fish.

Crete Holidays… The Greek Pearl Crete, A Fantastic Destination!

By bill On July 31, 2010 Comments Off

The island of Crete, with a population of around 650,000 in the year 2007, is one of the thirteen zones into which Greece is divided. Crete forms the main isle in Greece and the second biggest (just after Cyprus) in the eastern Mediterranean. The area has an elongated shape: it spans 260 kilometer from east to west, is 62 kilometer at its widest place, and narrows to as little as 11 kilometers. The island of Crete covers an area of 8,400 km2, which has a shoreline well over 1,000 km.

Towards the north, it broaches the Sea of Crete; to the south, the Libyan Sea; in the west, the Myrtoan Sea, and all the way to the eastern side the Karpathion Sea. The island of Crete  lies close to 160 km south of the Greek mainland.

Crete is quite mountainous, which becomes instantaneously obvious whenever you step on the island, and its particular character is defined by a high mountain range crossing from west to east, shaped by about three different groups of mountains. Some of these are the next few in random arrangement: The White Mountains or Lefka Ori (2,450 meters); the Idi Range (2,455 meters); the Dikti Mountains (2,150 meters); Kedros (1,775 meters) and Thripti (1,490 meters).

All these mountains blessed Crete with fertile plateaux, for instance Lasithi, Omalos as well as Nidha; caverns, like Diktaion and Idaion; and gorges, such as the well-known gorge of Samaria. The protected part of the Samaria Gorge is the home of kri-kri, while Cretan mountains and gorges seem to be refuges for the endangered vulture Lammergeier.

There are a variety of rivers on Crete, such as the Ieropotamos River on the southern part of the island.

The south coast, including the Mesara Plain and Asterousia Mountains, is catagorized in the North African climatic area, and thus enjoys significantly more sunny days and high temperatures throughout the entire year. In southern Crete, date palms produce fresh fruit, and swallows remain year-round rather than migrate to Africa.

In case you would like to see Crete, book your own trip and discount package at this time. We wish you and your family a satisfying holiday!
